Final year students, like me, are approaching their very last term of university before they are finally free from education to begin their new life of fully-fledged adulting.

As my last year as a student is coming to an end, I can’t help but look back at the years and notice the difference between my first and second year self to who I am now.

The year 2020 has turned so many of our lives upside down. 2020 brought me a new-founded fear of the uncertain along with mental health issues. Pre-pandemic me would never have predicted that this is where we are now.

Before the pandemic hit, even well before I began life at university, one of my main personality traits was laziness.

I would pride myself on how many hours a day I can nap, and it was only till my first year of university when my flatmates taught me that an average nap should only last between 15 minutes to an hour, instead of my minimum of four.

I also prided myself on how much I could get by on my course with minimal effort, which looking back now made absolutely no sense considering I was paying nine grand for that degree.

Aside from group projects, there wasn’t a single assignment I handed in throughout my first and second year of at uni that I didn’t start till the night before it…
